Effective Change provides individual tailored research and consultancy services. With our dynamic team and integrated understanding of diverse programs, services, systems and communities, our approach to providing consultancy support involves:
Rigorous planning: We understand that engaging a consultant is an investment. At the start of the project, we will work with you to understand why you are making that investment, the outcomes you want to achieve and the essential requirements of the project. We want to understand the context for the project, what is driving the project, any challenges in the external or internal environment, the purpose of the project, and how the project may fit with your organisation’s long or short-term plans. Tailored methodologies: We design our methodologies to ensure that we will meet your requirements. Any number of variables can influence the approach to the project, such as time constraints, competing priorities in the organisation or the sector or how best to consult with your key stakeholders. We are skilled in a wide range of methodologies for data collection from desk-based document analyses and literature searches, electronic surveying, through to face-to-face consultations and interviews. When consulting client groups, we can work with interpreters or support people, and use non-traditional techniques, such as PhotoVoice. Listening deeply: Our clients often tell us that ‘You ‘get’ what we do.’ When we’re working with clients taking innovative service-delivery approaches to complex problems, we believe it’s important to start with an open mind. We value your experience at the coalface, and find out what you believe is important and unique about your service. As independent consultants, we can test and validate these views, and with our experience can work through the critical steps of articulating, demonstrating and documenting how you are making a difference – be that for your client group, the service system, the policy environment or our broader knowledge base. Sound project management: We start each project with a clear plan, and regularly monitor progress with you to ensure that we provide you with the project deliverables, on time and on budget. Quality customer service: We assign a senior project consultant to each project and that staff member will stay with you through the life of the project. All members of our team know our clients, and you will always receive a friendly reception whenever you contact us. Transferring skills and knowledge: Some projects have a clear brief to focus on quality improvement processes, but we are happy to share our knowledge and suggestions about improving processes for every project. Reports and resources fit for purpose: At Effective Change we don’t produce template reports. Through understanding your requirements, we produce clear, accessible and engaging reports, fit for purpose. We will honour the complexity of your work, while ensuring that we express the findings of the project clearly, and provide a report with recommendations that are both practical and achievable. We take pride in our data visualisation skills, producing diagrams, infographics and graphs to present complex information in engaging and value-adding ways. |
